He is the head of the AI/ML department of Info Studio d.o.o. in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina and has held this leadership role since 2017.
Outside of his primary career efforts, Dr. Žunić has been an assistant professor for the Polytechnic Faculty, University of Zenica, since 2021. He also has experience working as a teaching assistant/industry expert at the largest and oldest university in Bosnia and Herzegovina, University of Sarajevo. He has been the co-founder, board member and chief information officer for edu720, an innovative learning platform that reports and tracks behaviors to determine how employees learn and grow, since 2015.
Prior to his current role, Dr. Žunić began his career as a student intern with Info Studio d.o.o. in Sarajevo in 2007 and was promoted to an information systems designer in 2010. At the same time, he was a teaching assistant for the Sarajevo School of Science and Technology in 2012 and worked as an external software engineer and software consultant for several companies in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Following this time, he served as a teaching assistant and industry expert in the data mining and artificial intelligence fields for the University of Sarajevo since 2017. In addition, Emir has been a speaker at over 20 respectable congresses and conferences around the world (Oracle, Data Science Conference, Western Balkans Digital Summit, FMCG, etc.), noting that he was an invited speaker at one of the largest IT conferences in the world, the WeAreDevelopers World Congress in Berlin in 2019.
Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Dr. Žunić earned a Bachelor of Science in Control and Electronics from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the University of Sarajevo in 2008. He then attained a Master of Science in Control and Electronics in 2010 and a Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Science and Informatics in 2020, both from the same institution. In recognition of his excellent work, he was funded by the "Academician Edhem Camo" to support his research in 2009. He was also honored with the Golden Ring of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering Award from the University of Sarajevo in 2008, 2010 and 2020.
Over the course of his career, Dr. Žunić has contributed a great deal of research to the field. He authored more than 50 scientific papers in prestigious journals as well as at the IEEE and Springer conferences around the globe. He also wrote a book chapter, "Application of Data Science in Supply Chain Management: Real-world Case Study in Logistics," in 2021. His scientific work is well recognized with a huge number of citations by the other authors. He serves as a reviewer for numerous professional publications, including the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Hindawi Publishing and Elsevier.
Within the coming years, Dr. Žunić intends to expand the company across Europe and around the world. He and his team have developed a huge number of enterprise applications, motivated by passion for computers as well as the desire to support his family.
