Howard Lee Lattimore Lauded for Excellence in the Fields of Social Work and Education

Mr. Lattimore channels years of experience into his work with the Department of Public Instruction



    RALEIGH, NC, November 10, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Howard Lee Lattimore has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of a current reference value. Mr. Lattimore is currently employed by the State of North Carolina serving as the State Military Consultant at the Department of Public Instruction in Raleigh, North Carolina. He advocates and ensure that over 97,000 military connected students enrolled within North Carolina are recognized, supported, celebrated, and easily transitioning in and out of North Carolina public schools.

He completed his Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) from Methodist University in Fayetteville, NC, his Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University of New England in Biddeford, ME, and his Master of School Administration (MSA) from Fayetteville State University (MSA) in Fayetteville, NC.

Mr. Lattimore was employed with Cumberland County Schools (CCS) for 11 years. As a school social worker for six years, he was responsible for approximately 550 students and 39 faculty and staff members. As a school administrator for a year, he was responsible for over 700 students and 46 faculty and staff members. For four years, Mr. Lattimore served as the military liaison advocating for over 15, 000 military connected students of the over 51,000 enrolled within 89 schools.

After graduating from Myers Park High School in Charlotte, NC, Mr. Lattimore enlisted in the United States Army as an (11B) Infantrymen. His duties and responsibilities included, but were not limited to: Armored Personnel Driver, Tank Commander, Army Sniper, 101st Air Assault Scout, Army Recruiter, 82nd Airborne Paratrooper, Drill Sergeant, V Corps Planner, and an ROTC Training & Operations Non-Commissioned Officer. During his 21 years, 10 months, and 10 days of service, Mr. Lattimore was deployed in support of Operation Desert Storm with the 101st Airborne Air Assault Division of Ft. Campbell, KY and Operation Iraqi Freedom with V Corps of Heidelberg, Germany. Mr. Lattimore received many awards and decorations throughout his service.

Mr. Lattimore remain driven daily by the Serenity Prayer "God and Heavenly Father, Grant to us the serenity of mind to accept that which cannot be changed; courage to change that which can be changed, and wisdom to know the one from the other" and Isaiah 40:31 "But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."

His wife is Carolyn Lattimore and their three children are Alexis, Christian, and Zoey Lattimore.
