POOLER, GA, November 11, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Wayne Chambers has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

A highly respected watercolor artist with almost 60 years of experience, Mr. Chambers' paintings of iconic historic homes and monuments grace the walls of public spaces, galleries and private residences in the Savannah area and beyond. In addition to his own artistic work, Mr. Chambers is co-owner of the Savannah Gallery of Art, and an art teacher, both privately and through Georgia Southern University's continuing education program.

Perhaps Mr. Chambers' best-known work is a painting of the famous Mercer-Williams House, the Civil War-era historic residence that inspired John Berendt's 1994 bestseller "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil." Mr. Chambers was commissioned to paint the residence, and he has sold more than 500 lithographs of the property to art collectors around the world. He was also commissioned to design and paint the "Tour of Homes" program covers for 12 years, highlighting some of Savannah's most renowned architecture. As a commitment to his field, Mr. Chambers is a member of the Jekyll Island Watercolor Society and a past member of the American Watercolor Society and Georgia Watercolor Society. He is currently working on a commissioned painting for Pooler City Hall.

Born and raised in Virginia, Mr. Chambers commenced his academic journey at the John Tyler Community College in Chesterfield County, Virginia, and he later studied at Virginia Commonwealth University and the Art Students League of New York. He first gained recognition for his paintings of cityscapes and skyline views in Richmond. The city's Retail Merchants Association purchased all of his work at a local exhibit and went on to commission him as their resident artist for 13 years. Still today, many of Mr. Chambers' paintings hang in their board rooms and gallery spaces.

Outside of work, Mr. Chambers enjoys playing the piano, ballroom dancing and gardening, especially roses. He is an active member of the Trinity United Methodist Church and has volunteered with soup kitchens and homeless shelters in the Savannah area. Now 74, Mr. Chambers describes his life as fulfilling and full of joy; he hopes to keep perfecting his talents, mentoring others and staying positive.
