With more than 20 years of excellence to her credit in the field of psychology, Dr. Wooden has found success as a licensed clinical psychologist. In this capacity, she is the owner and lead psychologist for True North Psychological Services Inc. Since 2004, she has focused her efforts on providing supportive services and treatments for patients seeking therapy for mental health wellness. Additionally, she is a member of American Psychological Association (APA) and Psychology Today. Also, a dedicated civil advocate, she lends her continued expertise to women that have successfully attended and graduated the Family Recovery Center Program in Oceanside while the program was under her leadership.
Prior to embarking on her professional journey, Dr. Wooden earned three undergraduate degrees at the University of California, Irvine. A Bachelor of Science degree in biology, and two Bachelor of Art degrees in Psychology and Cultural Social Science. She then attained a Doctor of Philosophy degree in clinical psychology and a master's level Registered Addiction Specialist (M-RAS) certification.
Dr. Wooden moved to the United States from Kuwait during the 1990 Gulf War; the daughter of immigrant Egyptian parents; she found an interest and curiosity in understanding how different people interact with one another and the environment around them. Originally intended to attend medical school, she found herself directed to transition her experiences in biology and medicine to support her work with individuals in a mental health and wellness capacity. She currently finds passion working with first responders, veterans, dementia and Alzheimer's caregivers, cancer patients and caregivers, amputees, MS diagnosed individuals, stroke survivors, postpartum depression, trauma Survivors, and individuals working through other mental health issues. In the coming years, she intends to get certified as an NLP master practitioner and integrate hypnosis in her practice as a life coach and teacher. She will also be integrating a curriculum to have a bigger impact on the lives of the youth in her community through helping them reconnect with their life's meaning and purpose following the COVID-19 pandemic.
