NORMAN, OK, November 17, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- James Roane, BS, DDS, MS FIDC, FACD, DABE, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. With more than 45 years of excellence in endodontics to his credit, Dr. Roane is the founding chairman of Endodontics at the University of Oklahoma, College of Dentistry. He is Professor Emeritus since 2004. As an educator and clinician, he focused his efforts into passing on his knowledge to the next generation of dentists and endodontists. He is a member of the American Dental Association, American Association of Endodontists and a diplomate of the American Board of Endodontists.
As chairman, Dr. Roane was able to advance the program forward into the newest approaches in endodontic therapy. In 1977 he began a private practice which became Endodontic Practice Associates and provided practice experience for the department's faculty. He retired from that practice in 2014. Over the course of his career, he contributed chapters to three endodontic textbooks, authored numerous professional articles, and presented educational lectures and technique courses for national and international meetings. These included the American Association of Endodontists meetings and meetings in Brazil, Spain, England, Scotland, Canada, Israel, Mexico, and Argentina.
Dr. Roane began his professional career, earning a Bachelor of Science from The University of Oklahoma in 1961, a Doctor of Dental Surgery from Baylor College of Dentistry in 1965. While serving in the U.S. Air Force, he completed a residency in Endodontics and received a Master of Science degree at the Ohio State University in 1971. He was honored with an outstanding Presenter Award during the 1972 AAE meeting in Montréal, Canada for presentation of his master research. During his educational career he was inducted as a fellow into the American College of Dentistry and later the International College of Dentistry.
Dr. Roane intends to continue maintaining a life in retirement. He was inspired to become a medical professional by a cousin of his mother, a physician, and the family dentist he knew in his formative years. Combined with his problem-solving abilities and passion for practical solutions, dentistry was a natural profession for him.
