Following a renowned career in finance and several executive-level positions in education, banking, and health care, Mr. Abel retired and became a bestselling author. Specializing in science fiction and romance, he established a website, genepabelbooks.com in 2019 to promote his work. Among his contributions are two bestselling books, "Going Back," a time travel novel, and "What, If Anything, Is Out There?" a non-fiction look at UFOs. Mr. Abel also released the sequel to "Going Back," "Kidnappers from the Future" and his third book in the "Defenders of Time" Trilogy, "The Alien Steps In" should be released in early 2023. He has also published "The Inn of Destiny," a romance novel as well as a non-fiction look at our political system from Ronald Reagan to the present, "Broken Promises and Lies of the Republicans."

Looking toward the future, Mr. Abel aims to have his book, "The Inn of Destiny," made into a film. He also aspires to collaborate with a streaming company to produce a mini-series predicated on his three science fiction books about time travel and extraterrestrials. Mr. Abel has notably promoted his books via podcasts on WebTalkRadio.net, social media and video trailers.

A military veteran of more than three decades, Mr. Abel began working as a financial analyst for the aerospace and electronics industries, followed by more than a decade as an administrator at the University of Pennsylvania and Hahnemann Hospital, from 1968 to 1981. After being called to active duty in the Army from late 1981 to early 1983, he became an officer of a multi-billion-dollar bank in Allentown, Pennsylvania. As the bank's vice president, he was responsible for bank operations at over 50 locations.

Among other noteworthy roles, Mr. Abel served as the dean of business services for Reading Area Community College in Reading, Pennsylvania, and as the chief operating officer and board treasurer for the Central Bucks School District. Recognized as the third largest school district in Pennsylvania, he notably oversaw a rapidly growing school system that included 16 school construction projects that amounted to $120 million.

Civically, Mr. Abel has been active in local politics as a committee person and campaign coordinator for the congressman in his area. He was also President of the church council of the Apostles' Lutheran Church in Turnersville, New Jersey. He also served as the president of the Cape Coral Housing, Rehabilitation, and Development Corporation, which is a nonprofit organization that provides housing and home repairs to low-income senior citizens. He also was Chairman of Christ Lutheran School Board in Cape Coral, FL.

Born in Allentown, Pennsylvania, Mr. Abel studied at Pennsylvania State University, where he acquired a Bachelor of Science in finance in 1963. He also was a Distinguished Military Graduate and received a Commission as a Second Lieutenant in the Regular Army. He subsequently attended Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, where he garnered a Master of Business Administration in 1964. Additionally, he graduated from the U.S. Army War College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania in 1985. Mr. Abel served for five years active duty in the U.S. Army and 25 years inactive duty in the U.S. Army Reserve. His initial four years of active duty was split, two years as a nuclear weapons officer in the 2nd of the 75th 8 inch Field Artillery Battalion in Hanau, Germany and two years as a finance officer at Ft. Lewis, Washington before retiring as a colonel in 1993.

In light of his military service, Mr. Abel was nominated for Brigadier General. He was also decorated with numerous medals, including the Meritorious Service Medal on two occasions and the Army Commendation Medal.
