    GLENDALE, CA, November 22, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Sona Van aka Sonia Kistorian, MD, poet, publisher, author of eight books has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Dr. Kistorian holds dual citizenship in the United States and the Republic of Armenia, and she has been active as a health care practitioner since 1979. She is currently a medical administrator at All for Health, Health for All Inc., a company she co-founded with her husband Dr. Noobar Janoian after previously having collaborated on research projects at Kaiser Permanente for 15 years. Dr. Kistorian's impressive academic history includes an MD from Yerevan State Medical University in the Republic of Armenia, and she earned a master's degree in spiritual and clinical psychology from the University of Santa Monica.

As an author, essayist, poet and publisher, Sona Van also avidly pursues a variety of literary projects. She is a publisher and editor of two literary magazines ("Let There be Light" 1995-1997 in LA and "Narcissus" 2003-2013 in Yerevan, Armenia) promoting arts and literature across many languages. She is co-founder of the TV program "Narcissus" in Glendale, CA, pens essays in English, which is her second language, and crafts poetry in Armenian; in fact, to date, her poetry has been translated into 29 languages and was published in numerous literary magazines and anthologies throughout the world. She travels excessively and exercises her literary passion in various ways by presenting her poetry on many continents. She participated in debates regarding human rights, war, genocide, presenting war as a personal enemy of women while emphasizing feminine role as the carrier of soft power in movements against the war and violence. She promotes poetry as alternative religion for the new man. She received several international prizes, including the highest poetry prize in China and was given the status of honorary citizen.

Other creative contributions attributed to her include "Libretto for the Desert," the poetry book dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Armenian Genocide by Ottoman Turks in 1915, which was translated into 29 languages. The audiobook was published by "Blackstone" publishing house in LA. The Polish translation of the book won the European Medal of Poetry and Art in 2018. Sona Van also proudly accepted the Woman in Literature Award from the California Chamber of Commerce in 2013 and the Gold Medal from the Cultural Ministry of Armenia in 2000 for her contributions in literature and art. She is also revered in her homeland, having been awarded the nation's most prestigious honors bestowed upon a writer. These include the Gold Medals awarded by the Ministry of Culture and the Armenian Ministry of Diaspora; the gold medal from the Golden Apricot Film Festival, and the highest Presidential Honor, the "Movses Khorenatsi Medal" for her contribution to preserving the Armenian identity abroad. As such, she is considered to be the most widely discussed contemporary Armenian author by literary critics in Armenia and abroad.

Although no longer practicing medicine, Dr. Kistorian has always remained committed to helping others. To wit, she has conducted volunteer work in Armenia and for her efforts received the Fridtjof Nansen Foundation of Armenia Award for Humanitarianism and Compassion in 2017. She is involved in numerous charity projects in the USA and in Armenia. The one notable achievement is her cooperation with the federal government in USA providing free health care to the indigent population through donation and the non-profit health organization All For Health, Health For All in LA and surrounding cities.

Ultimately, optimism and humanitarianism are the driving forces behind her success in such diverse endeavors, as is her persistent urge to serve and protect others while helping them find joy and meaning in their lives. Dr. Kistorian's future aim includes offering even more services to indigent people. With her new writings she hopes to beckon dialogue with her readers, to transform and to elevate their spirit for the happier and more fulfilling human experience. Her ultimate goal is to create female awareness of their role and responsibility to eliminate the war in the world.
