After working in the international trade & customs industry for more than 40 years, Ms. Cazas retired from her position as Regional Director of the Americas for the Renault-Nissan Alliance Customs & Trade Organization in late 2013. Prior to this role, she gained valuable expertise in her field as senior manager with Nissan North America, principal with Arthur Andersen & Co. and manager with Minolta Corporation. Due to her outstanding breadth of knowledge, Ms. Cazas served as guest speaker at colleges and trade associations including the World Trade Institute, the University of Southern California, William & Mary School of Law, the American Association of Exporters & Importers, among others, and was often quoted and profiled in the Los Angeles Business Journal, the Journal of Commerce and Los Angeles Times.
In conjunction with her work, Ms. Cazas volunteered as president of the Pacific chapter of the United States-Mexico Chamber of Commerce, Treasurer/Secretary of the American Association of Exporters & Importers, president of the Southern California Foreign Trade Association, and co-founder of the US Business Alliance for Customs Modernization. Driven to contribute to the US trade community, she was appointed to the Federal Advisory Committee to the Treasury Department on Customs Operations, the NAFTA and Reconciliation Advisory Committees and the Customs Automotive Round Table.
Ms. Cazas earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Northwestern University in 1973. She applied her industry and management knowledge to earn a customs broker license from the U.S. Treasury Department in 1979 and a Master of Business Administration degree in executive management and international business from Pace University in 1983.
In recognition of her professional achievements, Ms. Cazas was awarded the National Performance Review Award by Vice President Al Gore for helping to reduce the cost of government, as well as lifetime achievement awards from the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce and the American Association of Importers & Exporters. While her career has been filled with highlights, she takes the most pride in her mentoring others for professional growth. Though hard work and dedication have brought her far, she attributes her success to continuing education and imparting what she knows to others. Ms. Cazas plans to continue to make the most of her retirement enjoying family and friends, her many hobbies, and volunteering as a career and retirement mentor.
