A professional training and coaching organization that focuses exclusively on small women-owned business owners, the Women's Business Center South strives to provide the necessary tools and resources for professional women to create, sustain, and expand their various business ventures. Among a myriad of services, the Center offers business and finance coaching, technical and managerial support, and troubleshooting expertise.
Having worked in community and economic development for approximately 20 years, Ms. Mitchell previously garnered recognition as the director of community and economic development for the Memphis Medical District Collaborative, an organization that provides an all-inclusive approach to revitalizing the core of the city. She also served as a business management consultant and trainer for Communities Unlimited. Among other roles, Ms. Mitchell was a learning coach and classroom teacher for grades five through nine at the Snowden School in Memphis and a youth ministry director.
Ms. Mitchell is passionate about supporting an organization called Advance Memphis in her spare time. Presently working to resolve poverty throughout three major zip codes, Ms. Mitchell takes a holistic approach to ensuring that resources are in place so that these individuals are capable of creating better futures for themselves.
Ms. Mitchell earned a Bachelor of Science in organizational leadership and nonprofit management at the University of Memphis in 2006, followed by a Master of Arts in curriculum and instruction in 2010. To remain abreast in her field, Ms. Mitchell maintains membership with several industry-related organizations, including Leadership Memphis, Leadership Tennessee, and the Association of Women's Business Centers.
As a testament to her integrity, Ms. Mitchell was named to the 40 Under 40 Class of 2022 Leaders in Memphis. Looking toward the future, she aspires to help female business owners secure more resources such as loans, lines of credit, grants, and money through investments. Ms. Mitchell attributes much of her success to her passion for helping people realize their God-given dreams.
