MCCLELLANDTOWN, PA, December 01, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Judge Robert J. Lesnick has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all considered during the selection process.

With more than 40 years of excellence to his credit in litigation, Mr. Lesnick found success as a Chief Judge for the Federal Mine Safety and Health Review Commission from 2003 until his retirement in 2019. During the course of his tenure he focused his efforts on docket management, successfully eliminating the significant backlog of cases resulting from the reforms to the Mine Act in 2006. He also presided over many complex cases, including the Quecreek case, which involved nine miners who nearly drowned in a Pennsylvania mine inundation, and the Upper Big Branch case, which pertained to the deaths of 29 miners due to a coal dust explosion.

Likewise dedicated to civic advocacy, Mr. Lesnick volunteers to serve on various commissions for Fayette County, Pennsylvania, including the prestigious Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission, thereby upholding his dedication to helping citizens interact effectively with their government.

Prior to his most recent role, Mr. Lesnick began his career as a litigation expert working with the U.S. Department of Labor in Kansas City, Denver, and Washington, D.C., and as a Special Counsel for the U.S. Department of the Treasury, during the Savings and Loan Crisis. In 1994 he was sworn in as a U.S. Administrative Law Judge dedicated to providing full due process hearings to citizens, serving as Chief Judge of the Social Security Pittsburgh Hearing Office, and as a judge for the U.S. Department of Labor. In 2003 Judge Lesnick was appointed national Chief Judge of the Federal Mine Safety and Health Review Commission in Washington, D.C., overseeing offices in Pittsburgh and Denver. Judge Lesnick retired in 2019. He continues in retirement to serve as a mediator for the U.S. Department of Labor, and as a hearing officer for the Office of Congressional Workplace Rights.

Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Mr. Lesnick earned a bachelor of arts in economics, summa cum laude, on a full academic scholarship from St. Vincent College in 1974, a juris doctorate from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1977, and certification as a mediator from the National Judicial College.

In accounting for his success, Mr. Lesnick credits the influence of his parents who hailed from humble beginnings. While neither his mother nor his father, a coal miner, attended high school, they instilled within him a powerful work ethic and a love for education. Their sacrifice motivated him to excel in his academic and professional endeavors. Within the coming years, Mr. Lesnick plans to spend more time with his own family including his wife, Kathy, two sons, their families and his four grandchildren.
