For more than 35 years, Mr. DeHorn has been playing an instrumental role at the Brady Company/Los Angeles Inc. Hired as a project administrator in 1987, he continually earned recognition and promotions as a contract administrator, estimator, and senior estimator. In 2001, Mr. DeHorn was named as the chief estimator, where he is presently responsible for $25 million in annual sales, overseeing three estimators, assigning projects to estimators, and handling bids and other daily operations.
An expert in project cost management, Mr. DeHorn notes the integrity and fairness that he demonstrates at work as one of the keys to his success and longevity in the field. He is also grateful to several mentors, including Allen Larson, the former general manager at the Central California office who greatly influenced his career, as well as Bill Saddler, the former general manager at Mr. DeHorn's present office whom he has been working alongside it for the past two decades.
Notably, the Brady Company/Los Angeles Inc. was founded in San Diego and is now one of three independently owned and operated subcontracting companies. Offering locations in San Diego, Los Angeles, and Central California, the organization is considered a contractor of choice that is backed by an extensive portfolio. Apart from his full-time commitments, Mr. DeHorn spent two years as an instructor of residential estimating at Fullerton College between 2006 and 2008. Considering retirement in the next five years, Mr. DeHorn is content in knowing that he has enjoyed a very fulfilling career in the industry.
Supporting various charitable organizations and events, Mr. DeHorn has also notably been involved with a local breast cancer initiative that has been sponsored by the Brady Company/Los Angeles, Inc. for the past 12 years.
After graduating from Mercer Island High School in 1981, Mr. DeHorn was accepted to Washington State University where he acquired a bachelor's degree in social science in 1986. To remain aware of developments in his field, Mr. DeHorn has been affiliated with the Los Angeles, Orange, and Inland Empire chapter of the American Subcontractors Association and has been active on the board of directors since 2011.
In light of his achievements, Mr. DeHorn was the recipient of a Muhlhauser Leadership Award from the American Subcontractors Association in 2015. He was also named as the runner up Estimator of the Year by the American Subcontractors Association in 2015 and 2022.
