In this capacity, she is the assistant principal and career development facilitator at Gaffney Middle School in South Carolina. Since 2022, she has focused her efforts on training teachers in instructional strategies and coordinates collaborative groups within the school to accomplish a variety of tasks. She specializes in mentoring teachers and working with students who have individualized education programs (IEPs).
Prior to her current role, Dr. Kilgore began her career as a math teacher, and still teaches mathematics presently. While developing her stellar career in education, she earned a Doctor of Education from the University of Phoenix in 2016. Among her career accomplishments, she is proud to have been the first person to receive the Crystal Apple Award in the Cherokee County School District in November 2016. She also implemented an effective dismissal and pickup system for Gaffney Middle School to ensure that students are safely and quickly dismissed at the end of the day.
Within the coming years, Dr. Kilgore intends to become a professor who provides students with real-world experience in order to enhance education programs. She aims to be a voice to encourage potential teachers and help them understand what it takes to pursue their academic and career goals. She is particularly motivated by her own two children, who have special needs themselves and received wonderful treatment in the school system while they were living in Germany. Dr. Kilgore became passionate about advocating for these kinds of students in the United States, and uses her dedicated leadership to improve the education system for all students.
