As part of her career, she has self-published four books and contributed to three professional journals.
Having come from humble beginnings where her grandmother was a homemaker and worked as a maid for many wealthy families. Dr. Younger-Gilbert made a conscientious effort to show her siblings and others a way out of the life that they may be born into. Using education as her springboard, Dr. Younger-Gilbert began her career as a medical assistant, lab technician, hairdresser and cook. Later, she became a community interventionist working with various non-profit organizations serving battered women, sex workers, addiction disorders, homeless youth and people living with HIV and AIDS. The mental and the emotional impact of the stigma associated with these experiences prodded her to seek further education to be able to be more effective in the service of others. While pursuing her doctorate degree she became a teaching assistant for graduate-level courses at the Illinois School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University in Chicago.
Prior to embarking on her professional journey, Dr. Younger-Gilbert earned a bachelor's degree in Applied Behavior Science in 2003 from National Lewis University. She then attained a Master's degree in Clinical psychology in 2007 and a Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology in 2009. In 2017, she was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Divinity degree from Universal Life Church. She has obtained various certifications in the public and private sector and continues to enhance her knowledge base.
Within the coming years, Dr. Younger-Gilbert would like to establish a more collective and global platform for her speaking engagements. She operates with a great deal of integrity, honesty and willingness to serve others. She is always seeking to transform lives using knowledge gained from schools of higher learning as well as schools of non-traditional education. Today she continues to lecture, work on various projects, while attending to the needs of her clients and serving the community utilizing a holistic approach grounded in the values of multiculturalism. This approach utilizes the personal strengths and the cultural strengths of the clients and communities that she serves, geared towards life enrichment through building an alliance that fosters self-awareness, growth, and empowerment that enables her clients to maximize their personal and professional potential.
