WASHINGTON, D.C., December 12, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Doc Powell, artistic director of the Malcolm X Drummers and Dancers, has been selected for a cover feature in the Tenth Edition of Marquis Millennium Magazine. Released triannually, Millennium Magazine features the narrative biographies of the world's most esteemed and accomplished professionals. The publication is available exclusively to Marquis listees, and inclusion is by invitation only.

Possessing a profound interest in the art of drumming from a formative age, Doc Powell initially discovered his love for the craft while attending Antioch University for his undergraduate studies in early childhood education. He received a Bachelor of Arts in 1972 and, during this time, served as a youth counselor for Youth Pride, Inc. Deciding to dedicate his life full-time to drumming, particularly African drumming, he began his musical career as a drummer and percussionist for the Wo-se Theater for African Heritage Dancers and Drummers in 1975, and remained there for five years. Since 1980, he has excelled as the artistic director for Malcolm X Drummers and Dancers in Washington, D.C.
