NEW SMYRNA BEACH, FL, December 21, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- D. Dean Riley has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

With more than 50 years of expertise to his credit, D. Dean Riley has enjoyed a prosperous career within the field of accounting. Retired since 2020, he can summarize his life's work in a single word – "fun."

At the beginning of his career journey, Mr. Riley notably served three years in the United States Army, from 1959 to 1962. During his time in the military, he recalls he matured significantly and felt prepared to enter society as a hardworking individual. As a result of proficiency tests taken in the military, he decided to pursue a career in accounting and attend one of the top accounting colleges in the country, Bentley University in Waltham, Massachusetts. By 1967, he had earned a Bachelor of Science in accounting, as well as a Master of Science in taxation in 1986.

Eager to dive into the accounting world, Mr. Riley began his career as a state income tax manager for Pneumo Dynamics in 1967, remaining with the company until 1970. Thereafter, he served as a certified public accountant for a transportation company until the 1980s. In 1982, Mr. Riley spearheaded his eponymously named company, D. Dean Riley CPA, excelling as a certified public accountant in his office for nearly 40 years until his retirement in 2020. In addition, he had offered his expertise as an instructor at the University of New Hampshire.

Mr. Riley learned early in his career that the key to success was to treat people, both clients and co-workers, with the respect and consideration he would expect in return. Realizing that income taxes are not the most straightforward and exciting subject to understand, a one-hour session would be assigned to a client who would come in for tax preparation for a subsequent year. He notes that 55 minutes of the hour would be spent catching up with what's been going on with the clients personally and professionally for the past year. Only the remaining five minutes were dedicated to discussing taxes.

To remain abreast of his field, Mr. Riley holds membership with the New Hampshire Society of CPAs and the Tax Division of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. In addition, he volunteers with the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Upon reflection on an honorable career, Mr. Riley is most proud to have been a contributing delegate to the White House Conference on Small Business held in 1986 during the term of President Ronald Reagan. He attributes his success to the influence of his parents, along with his own drive and hard work. With this sentiment, he notes that he made it a point to maintain a healthy work-life balance, which allowed him to excel and find happiness in both the professional and personal areas of his life. He shares, "Success can be achieved principally by hard work."

Outside of his professional work, Mr. Riley is proud to have competed in numerous running races at ABC's Wide World of Sports and the National Senior Games held in Orlando, Florida, placing fourth in the 10K run and winning a Bronze Medal for the 5K run. An athlete and sports lover at heart, he is an avid Boston Red Sox fan and for more than 20 years, he attended a Red Sox fantasy camp. He looks forward to participating another year with the camp alongside his daughter, but at a less rigorous pace. He also hopes to be in the running for the DDS award, which is given to a participant that proves themselves to be the opposite of an MVP. Mr. Riley, who requires a runner for his at-bat performance, plans to be intimately acquainted with the bench when his team plays defense.

In his spare time, Mr. Riley enjoys remaining physically active, with a particular liking for baseball, boxing and tennis.
