A master when it comes to specialty cocktails, Ms. Sampson has garnered a reputation as a beloved local bartender who offers a long list of unique creations for her patrons. She also presently serves a limited, but delicious menu comprised mainly of appetizers and small plates via The Liberal Cup.
Additionally, Ms. Sampson frequently conducts cocktail/bartending classes, which include teaching the basics of tending bar and how to use various tools and take proper measurements. She also demonstrates how to make prepare ingredients and educates her guests on the long history of spirits.
Attributing her success to her business partner Geoff and his wife for helping make Ms. Sampson's dream of becoming an entrepreneur possible, she is also grateful to her parents for supporting her career goals and assisting her at the bar, and helping her to keep the business running efficiently. Having purchased The Maine House from her friend Deanne Thibeau and her mother Cody, Ms. Sampson looks forward to many more years of future success serving her loyal customers at a place that she likes to refer to as an extension of her home.
Civically engaged, Ms. Sampson raises money every December for her Operation Kiddo Christmas campaign that she founded for children and families in need throughout the community. Last year, she raised more than $3,000 to shop for gifts with her daughter Piper. Ms. Sampson also participates in various other fundraising campaigns that support community and global causes, including the war in Ukraine. Furthermore, Ms. Sampson supports the Hallowell Pride Alliance, which celebrates Hallowell and its LGBTQ+ community.
Ms. Sampson completed college coursework in the areas of business, education, and nursing. She also studied bartending under the tutelage of a former experienced co-worker during her nine-year tenure at Slates. Ms. Sampson was fortunate to gain an extensive background in flavors, as well as infusions, which were becoming very popular at the time.
Recognizing her expertise, Ms. Sampson's restaurant has been honored as one of the Best Cocktail Bars in Maine. Ms. Sampson has also notably been featured in several local publications, including The Portland Press and the Maine Craft Beer, Wine and Spirits Magazine, highlighting her success and her famous cocktails.
