Hailing from more than four decades of experience in his chosen field, Dr. Ounanian has found success through his work on behalf of the Beaver Medical Group, one of the largest multi-specialty medical groups in the Inland Empire region of California. Bearing a particular focus on family medicine, team building and medical informatics, Dr. Ounanian initially joined the group as a medical director in 2001, and went on to serve as a part-time recruiting associate for the organization from 2018 onward. Prior to his current association with the Beaver Medical Group, he joined the San Bernardino County Medical Center, with which he maintained involvement as a faculty staff and residency director between 1980 and 1990.
Before embarking upon his professional journey, Dr. Ounanian sought a formal education at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), from which he earned a Bachelor of Science in physics in 1972. Following this accomplishment, he continued his studies at UCLA's David Geffen School of Medicine in 1976, and later undertook a residency in family medicine at the university's Antelope Valley campus from 1976 until 1979.
Outside of his primary efforts, Dr. Ounanian served as the president of the San Bernardino County Medical Society from 2012 until 2013. On a more personal level, he has also been a member of the Elks Club and the honorable society of Phi Beta Kappa. He also enjoys such avocations as traveling, amateur radio operation, skiing and bicycling.
Dr. Ounanian initially became involved in his profession due to the great joy he draws from serving on behalf of his patients. In this respect, he feels immensely proud to have exerted a positive impact on the lives of others. Having attained his position largely because of his personal faith and dedication to exemplifying the best practices in his field, he credits much of his success on his sense of perseverance, as well as his solid work ethic and innate passion for what he does.
Looking toward the future, Dr. Ounanian hopes to remain involved in medicine on a part-time basis, as well as spend more time with his family, including his wife, Yolanda, his two children, Steven and Serena, and his five grandchildren.
