Mr. Baxter, co-owner of Nev'r Idle Farms, is recognized for his expertise in cattle farming. As a fifth-generation cattle farmer, he builds on the legacies of his father and grandfather, who taught him everything he needed to know and helped him become successful in his profession. As a child, Mr. Baxter was inspired by his elders, who were farmers on a 1,500-acre family farm in Bellflower; seeing them doing fieldwork fascinated him, and by the age of 11 he had taken up the work himself. When he was 15, the family relocated to his grandparents' hometown of Newman, Illinois, and Mr. Baxter took over the cattle operation in its entirety. By the time he was 21, he had officially joined into the family business alongside his father, and they have been farming ever since. Now 35, Mr. Baxter oversees daily operations of the 2,100-acre Nev'r Idle Farms, including its finances, including selling stone seeds and working with corn and soybean dealers. He also owns a trucking company with his father.
Prior to embarking on his vocational path, Mr. Baxter obtained an associate degree in agricultural business management from Parkland College. He is a member of the Newman American Legion Post 201 and serves as vice president of the Illinois Milking Shorthorn Society. In civic pursuits, he is a volunteer with East-Central Illinois Christian School. Outside of work, Mr. Baxter enjoys spending time with his wife, Kristen, and their three children, who range in age from 5 years to 5 weeks. When they come of age, he hopes for his children to continue the family's agricultural legacy.
