As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Drawing on more than 35 years of academic experience, Lawrence H. Rubly, MBA has exhibited an honorable career in education and linguistics. Today, he is fluent in English, German, Russian and Spanish.

Since 2018, Mr. Rubly has thrived as the chief operating officer and vice president of Austin University in San, Ramon California. He previously served in the same capacity at American Tech and Management University, where he additionally channeled his expertise in international business to excel as the dean of the aforementioned university's business school. In addition, Mr. Rubly has excelled as an adjunct professor at Oakton Community College for the past 39 years. Notably, he launched the Global Business Studies Program at Oakton, serving as chair from 2007 to 2010, and created the Certificate in Global Business to allow students worldwide to earn a U.S. credential entirely online within 12 months.

Prior to his current endeavors, Mr. Rubly gained vast knowledge and expertise in varying roles, including as dean of the business school at IBUS from 2013 to 2015, as a senior international fellow and executive vice president for distance education for the World Engagement Institute from 2012 to 2018 and as director of the Coyne College School of Allied Health from 2009 to 2011. Between 2006 and 2007, he served the International Academy of Design and Technology as the Schaumburg campus president. Outside his educational path, Mr. Rubly is also backed by experience as a general manager for Keller's North Suburban Center from 1991 to 1998.

During the 1990s, Mr. Rubly held several leadership positions at DeVry University's Keller Graduate School of Management before creating a new service that enabled students from China and the Middle East to complete undergraduate and graduate degrees online. Positions he held include regional manager and center director, director of distance learning business development and associate academic dean. Prior, between 1983 and 1990, he served as managing partner of Tech Management Consulting, Ltd. During his tenure as a contracts manager for Telemedia, Inc. throughout the 1970s, Mr. Rubly helped the Royal Saudi Naval Forces establish a new program for teaching English as a second language to naval officers as well as new recruits, which he notes as a highlight of his career.

Alongside his responsibilities as an academic administrator, Mr. Rubly found further success as a board member for Kuwait Technical College from 2002 to 2020. He also served as a board member for The Cradle, an Illinois-based adoption agency, for more than 20 years. To attest to his various accomplishments, he was the recipient of a National Leadership Award from E-College in the early 2000s. In addition to his innovative mindset, Mr. Rubly attributes a great deal of his success to the support of his mother, a high school mathematics teacher, and his father, who taught him the meaning of hard work. Alongside such honors and awards, he is incredibly proud to have developed Oakton Community College's international business program, which he notably rebuilt to reflect significant changes in the global economy.

When Mr. Rubly started his career, he notes it was very much academic-focused. Over the years, he has become a strong practitioner of proprietary education to the point where he is now comfortable mentoring others the same way Patrick Mayers and Philip Levine once mentored him. To prepare for his extensive career, Mr. Rubly matriculated at the University of Notre Dame, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in German and linguistics in 1969 and a Master of Arts in German and linguistics in 1974. That same year, he attained a Master of Science in linguistics from the Illinois Institute of Technology, followed by a Master of Business Administration in marketing and finance from Southern Illinois University in 1984.

In the coming years, Mr. Rubly aims to acquire the necessary resources to launch an Egypt-based academic program that offers technical career training, as well as teaches English as a second language. Worldly and driven, he looks forward to many more professional and academic ventures in the future.
