Mr. Makrauer began his career as a supervisor at a timeshare resort in Scottsdale, Arizona, while attending Scottsdale Community College, where he attained an associate degree in general business in 2014. To further his expertise in the field, he received certification in small business management and ownership. Mr. Makrauer purchased the Jersey Lilly Saloon more than five years ago.
Prior to operating the Jersey Lilly Saloon, Mr. Makrauer owned Apple Creek Cottages in Prescott, Arizona, for five years. In 2019, he converted the cottages from a 12-unit rental location to nine residential rentals and three vacation rentals. In addition to his saloon and Apple Creek Cottages, he owns a single-unit vacation rental on the property called Whisky Row Penthouse. To commemorate his accomplishments, Mr. Makrauer received a certificate of recognition for courthouse lighting from his local Chamber of Commerce through which he is also a member. He raises money for the courthouse square lighting through The Friends of Jersey Lilly Saloon Committee, which has significantly impacted the area economically. He oversees a committee of approximately 16 to 18 people, through which they organized auctions and raffles to acquire the money for the courthouse lighting and contributes over $50,000 annually.
Mr. Makrauer attributes his success to his family, particularly his mother. He has witnessed the challenges she has had to overcome throughout her life, which has inspired him during his professional journey. In a career filled with highlights, he is most proud of doubling the revenue of each of his businesses within two or three years of purchasing them. Looking toward the future, Mr. Makrauer aims to expand his real estate entrepreneurship investments, collaborating with his wife and office manager to explore more business ventures.
