With more than 15 years in the gaming and hospitality field to her credit, Ms. Evangelista has been recognized for her role as the president of the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Bristol, a $400 million business. In this capacity, she is responsible for running a temporary facility, which includes slot machines, table games, sports betting, a restaurant and lounge, live entertainment and promotional events. Additionally, she is overseeing the scheduled 2024 opening of a permanent facility that is currently under construction, an endeavor that requires her to work with the lottery commission on compliance. The Bristol Casino, Future Home of Hard Rock was the first casino to open in the State of Virginia.
Prior to her current position, Ms. Evangelista functioned as the vice president and general manager for Penn National Gaming in Ohio and Maryland. Previously, she worked for Pinnacle Entertainment as the vice president and general manager, the vice president of casino operations, the director of casino operations and human resources, the director of casino operations and a casino manager in Pennsylvania, Iowa and Missouri. Her first position in gaming was with Ameristar Casinos as Assistant Slot Operations Manager in Missouri. She was recruited by a previous leader with whom she worked for in Florida in multiple hospitality positions in various properties.
Ms. Evangelista holds a bachelor's degree in tourism from the University of Caxias do Sul, a Master of Business Administration from Lindenwood University and a master's degree in human resources management from Washington University in St. Louis. She also holds a management of slot operations certification from the University of Nevada, Reno. For her subsequent accomplishments, she has been recognized with a Best of the Best award from Bentley Price Associates, the Excellence in Leadership award from Pinnacle Entertainment, and a Team Leader of the Year accolade from Ameristar Casinos Inc. She also placed third in the 2022 Global Gaming Awards Executive of the Year Short List, was named one of the 100 people to meet by VA Business Magazine in 2023, and named one of the 25 people to watch by Global Gaming Magazine.
Ms. Evangelista attributes her success to the support she receives from her husband and family, hard work, her motivation and desire to learn, as well as the leaders who believed in her and gave her a chance to shine. Originally hailing from Brazil, she began her professional career as a hotel housekeeper after immigrating to the United States. She is proud to have advanced to her current role and considers it her most significant career accomplishment – however, she remembers where she started, and strives to treat everyone she works alongside with respect as she opens doors for others to grow and succeed in this amazing industry and country.
