MIDDLETOWN, DE, January 16, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Lilyana Auster has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Having accrued nearly two decades of professional expertise, Dr. Lilyana Auster has excelled within multiple industries, including educational leadership, mathematics and civil engineering.

Before embarking on her professional journey, Dr. Auster pursued an education at the Highway Engineering University in Moscow, Russia, where she obtained a combined Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in civil engineering. Subsequently, she attained a teacher of English as a second language diploma from the Teachers' Improvement Qualifications Institute in Moscow, Russia. At this time, in 1985, Dr. Auster took on her first professional role in the field of engineering as a calculus instructor and a department chairperson for the City Road Maintenance Division at the Highway Engineering University in Russia.

When she relocated to the United States, Dr. Auster continued her academic efforts at Saint Joseph College in West Hartford, Connecticut, earning a Master of Education in instruction and curriculum in 2005. In addition, she obtained a Doctor of Education in educational leadership from Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut and a Doctor of Education in administrative leadership in innovation and continuous improvement from Concordia University in 2021.

Supported by abundant academic knowledge, Dr. Auster commenced her career in the American education system as a mathematics teacher at Watertown High School in Watertown, Connecticut in 2006. The following year, she joined the New Haven Public Schools as an administrative intern and mathematics teacher, excelling in her roles through 2014, at which point she served as an instructional leader and mathematics coach at Windham Middle School until 2016. Progressing in her professional endeavors, Dr. Auster was appointed a district curriculum specialist for K-12 mathematics for Hartford Public Schools for one year and served as a district professional development coordinator for Stamford Public Schools from 2017 to 2021.

Since 2021, Dr. Auster has excelled in her current position as a learning recovery director for the Ames Community School District in Iowa. In this capacity, she is responsible for analyzing data, establishing partnerships with various agencies to provide students with targeted interventions in mathematics and literacy, and for implementing several programs in the district to close learning gaps caused by the pandemic.

The core of Dr. Auster's work focuses on advocating for urban students, as she has continuously directed her efforts on finding ways to make mathematics accessible for them. For several years, she has not only provided professional development opportunities but also educated people on the fact that the landscape of STEM education has changed, and that it is necessary to alter the ways students are taught to close opportunity gaps.

Well regarded for her contributions to the field, Dr. Auster has received multiple awards, including the Excellence Award for Best Project of the New Haven Leadership Academy, and has been ranked as an Exemplary Teacher in 2012 and 2018. Dr. Auster notes her success comes from her multitasking abilities and resilience. She is equally grateful for being accepted into the United States and integrated into its society. Likewise, the bias she encountered as a former resident of the Soviet Union served as a massive motivation for her to succeed. She also credits the support of her family, which has been indispensable to her professional and her personal journey.

In five years' time, Dr. Auster looks forward to becoming a district superintendent. With her educational expertise, strong skills in project management and an engineering-centered mindset, she is confident that she can help rebuild and elevate districts that are failing due to inconsistencies and poor management capabilities.
