PITTSBURGH, PA, January 17, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Amy L. Haller, MBA, MPAS, PA-C, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of the current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Ms. Haller is a passionate healthcare provider working to streamline other providers' experiences by working from a platform of education. She is currently the director of the Center for Advanced Practice Education at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), where she interfaces directly with the chief advanced practice officer and oversees educational initiatives, including assisting with program content and speaker invitations for biannual education conferences. She also supports Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) by helping to manage fellowship programming across the UPMC health system, all toward smoothing the transition from postgraduate education to a position as part of the clinical healthcare workforce. Moreover, Ms. Haller meets with departments inside and outside of UPMC that are interested in creating APP fellowships to share program quality standards and assist in both the launch and execution of these initiatives.

Through her current appointment, Ms. Haller consistently emphasizes educational initiatives. She oversees the preceptor academy for APPs that provides clinical rotations for medical learners; in this position, she stresses resource sharing and working across a collective to promote and install the team's best ideas regarding advanced programming. She also collaborated with the University of Pittsburgh School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences associate dean of interprofessional studies, as well as the chief advanced practice officer of UPMC, to develop the APP leadership certificate course which continues to be in high demand. She counts this as her greatest professional contribution thus far. Ms. Haller also remains active as a practitioner, working as a physician assistant with a presence in three separate UPMC clinical facilities.

Earlier appointments to Ms. Haller's credit include the director of the Advanced Practice Provider Surgical Residency Program for UPMC from 2014 to 2019 and physician assistant for the UPMC Minimally Invasive Bariatric and General Surgery from 2009 through 2018. As an educator, she holds concurrent faculty appointments as an adjunct instructor at both the University of Pittsburgh School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences and Duquesne University. Finally, Ms. Haller was a surgical physician assistant resident at Norwalk Hospital from 2008 until 2009.

Ms. Haller pursued a career in the sciences largely due to a personal desire to serve as a positive influence in the lives of others. She initially enrolled in the education degree track but early on sensed the logical merger of the health care and education platforms. She now boasts an exceptional academic background, including a Master of Business Administration from Chatham University, with a concentration in health care management, from 2019. Previously, she studied at Duquesne University, from which she received a Bachelor of Science in health sciences and a Master of Physician Assistant Studies in 2007 and 2008, respectively. Ms. Haller attributes her academic and professional success to passionate mentors and to the support of her family, and she credits her current supervisor at UPMC as a visionary leader in the field who persists in supporting her as she seeks to solve system-wide challenges.

Various professional projects highlight Ms. Haller's level of commitment to APPs. She developed and administered a program across 43 hospitals and community clinics that encourages newly hired physician assistants and nurse practitioners to form supportive mentorship partnerships with other APPs in the UPMC system. She is also a regular contributor to the OAPP bimonthly newsletter, which is disseminated to all APPs and managers in the health system. Ms. Haller is also intent on civic and community service. To wit, she is involved in The Neighborhood Academy, a school for underserved African American students, as well as The Children's Trust and the UPMC Children's Hospital Foundation.
