    LEMON GROVE, CA, January 17, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- JoAnn L. Scott, LCSW, M-RAS, BCD, CCTP, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

With more than 30 years of excellence to her credit in social work, Ms. Scott has found success as a licensed mental health clinician for the County of San Diego. Since 2008, she has focused her efforts on providing therapy for clients, as well as conducting assessments, crisis intervention, trauma recovery, group therapy sessions and screenings to ascertain whether clients meet the County's criteria. Additionally, she is a Board-Certified Diplomate with the American Board of Clinical Social Work.

Outside of her primary career efforts, Ms. Scott serves as an educator and mentor. She has been a topic trainer for SD County HHSA, WRM Training Academy with Mental Health Systems Inc. from 2001 to 2008 and is an associate faculty member with the University of Phoenix as well. Additionally, she has been a field instructor for several institutions since 1997, including the University of Phoenix, National University, and San Diego State University (SDSU), among others.

Likewise dedicated to civic advocacy, Ms. Scott volunteers her expertise in social work internationally for Croatia, Bosnia, China and the Philippines. Locally, she is a member of Engage Community Church and was in voluntary leadership roles with the Living Hope Christian Fellowship, the New Beginnings Christian Fellowship, and the Magnolia Wesleyan Church.

Prior to her current roles, Ms. Scott began her career as an activities assistant for the Pacific Springs Resort Retirement Community in 1986, after which she became a senior counselor for the Pegasus North-Adult Psychiatric Socialization Center in 1988. She subsequently worked in case management for Escondido, California, beginning in 1990. Following this period, she went into private practice as an individual and family therapist in 1997. During this time, she also served as an expert witness for the California State Department of Social Services from 2000 to 2003 and was a program manager and clinical supervisor for Case Management Programs, CalWORKs Multiservice Centers, and South Bay Dual Recovery Services between 1995 and 2008.

Prior to embarking on her professional journey, Ms. Scott studied at San Diego State University, where she attained a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 1988 and a Master of Social Work in 1993. Well-qualified in her field, she is trained in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing, was an AAMFT trained supervisor, and is trained in advanced critical incident stress management. She is also a certified clinical trauma professional, licensed clinical social worker, addiction specialist and certified diplomate in clinical social work.

In recognition of her excellent work, Ms. Scott was named as the San Diego County Case Manager of the Year in 1991 and 1996 and was nominated as the Employee of the Year by Mental Health Systems Inc. in 2006. She was also nominated for the SDSU School of Social Work Field instructor of the Year in 2011 and 2012 and was given the award in 2013. Furthermore, Ms. Scott was honored with a County of San Diego Recognition Award for Customer Service in 2017 and a Faculty Scholar Award from the University of Phoenix in 2012 and 2019.

Within the coming years, Ms. Scott intends to focus more of her efforts on helping veterans who struggle with post-traumatic stress disorder. Having been dedicated to the mental health profession since her youth, she is singularly focused in helping her patients communicate more effectively while embracing each person's differences.
