ALBURQUEQUE, NM, January 18, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Bruce L. Potts has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

With more than four decades of excellence to his credit as an educator, Mr. Potts has earned distinction as a pillar in his profession. Now retired, he most recently served as a teacher with the University of New Mexico for 14 years, focusing his efforts on teaching rising professionals how to work with children who have language deficit problems. Prior to this, he was a teacher for 25 years, specializing in art education and English classes for high school students.

Before starting his private career, Mr. Potts served honorably in the United States Navy based in San Diego, California. During his service, he was an expert in oral interpretation of literature and volunteered as a storyteller with the children's library in San Diego. He was then transferred to Hawaii, where he continued to represent the United States Navy in the community by telling engaging stories to children in schools. Additionally, he was a critical part of a team that helped victims of a large fire who were being treated at Tripler Army Hospital in Honolulu, using his unique talents to lift the spirits of the children there. In recognition of his dedicated service, he was named Sailor of the Month in 1973.

Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Mr. Potts earned a bachelor's degree in studio art and art education as well as speech communications with a specialty in oral interpretation from Southern Illinois University in 1978. He then attained a Master of Education in special education from Western New Mexico University in 1992.

Outside of his primary career efforts, Mr. Potts is an artist by nature, creating stunning drawings of animals and dabbles in acrylic and ceramic sculpture. He has also written a play, "Pardon Me," while stationed in Hawaii. A character actor as well, he appeared in the hit movie "Cash" alongside Sean Bean during a scene set in Chicago.

Within the coming years, Mr. Potts intends to spend more time engaging with his hobbies, including painting, gardening and appearing as an extra in movies filmed in the Albuquerque, New Mexico area. However, he finds that he is more suited to teaching art rather than being an artist himself, and plans to resume working with underprivileged kids.
