Backed by over 15 years of medical experience, Dr. Jones presently works as the medical director of Advent Health Central Texas Behavioral Health Center. Since joining the healthcare system in 2012, he has collaborated with outpatient pediatricians, family practitioners, psychiatrists, psychologists, and therapists in the area. He has supervised residents, fellows, nurse practitioners, therapists, nursing, and medical students, for over nine years. Throughout his diverse experience, he has worked with numerous professionals in the field of medicine from different institutions and has overseen a wide range of cases. During the early stages of his career, Dr. Jones gained valuable expertise as a chief fellow of Baylor Scott & White Health and as a chief resident at Howard University Hospital.
To remain abreast of changes in the field, Dr. Jones aligns himself with the Texas Society of Psychiatric Physicians, the Texas Society of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, the American Psychiatric Association, the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and the American Medical Association. Outside of his work, Dr. Jones dedicates himself to his community by working and helping universities through lectures, research symposiums, and his nonprofit organization Keeping America Healthy (KaHealthy.org), which he helped found in 2010.
An expert in his field, Dr. Jones holds a Bachelor of Arts in biology with a minor in chemistry from Prairie View A&M University and his Doctor of Medicine degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. Over the years, he also expanded upon his knowledge via a residency in general psychiatry at Howard University Hospital in Washington, D.C., and a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at Baylor Scott & White Health in Temple, Texas. He practices and remains board certified in Adult Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. In recognition of his outstanding work, Dr. Jones has received two awards through the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, a Resident Distinction Award nomination through the National Medical Association, and a scholarship through the International Society of Psychiatric Genetics.
While his career has been filled with highlights, the cornerstone of his success lies in his spirituality and the mentors he has had throughout his career. Dr. Jones takes the most pride in being able to build up the program at Advent Health Central Texas Behavioral Health Center, where he has kept the lines of communication open with outside hospitals and universities, allowing them to send their students to expand their learning and training. In the coming years, Dr. Jones aims to open a hospital with an associated clinic, become more of a community activist, and continue speaking at churches and universities about how to navigate life.
