JOLIET, IL, January 24, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Richard Linus Hartshorn has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Throughout the course of his career in education, Mr. Hartshorn gained valuable experience in the field as an English and public speaking teacher in Fairmont, Minnesota. After teaching there for 21 years he became a pre-K-8 principal in Wabasha, Minnesota. Mr. Hartshorn retired as the elementary principal from Lester Prairie School District in 2001. He has also served as a professional poet and singer for nearly six decades.

Known for his contributions as a civic-minded citizen, Mr. Hartshorn has helped serve food to the homeless in his community for many years. Prior to embarking upon his professional journey he earned a Bachelor of Science in 1969 from the University of Nebraska. He went on to earn a master's degree in curriculum and instruction and a sixth-year certification in elementary education from the University of Minnesota. To remain aware of developments affecting his field, he maintained professional alignment with the Minnesota Principal's Association until his retirement in 2001.

To commemorate his accomplishments, Mr. Hartshorn won a writing competition that led to his selection as the only classroom teacher in Minnesota to attend the 1986 National Teachers' Forum, which has been one of the highlights of his career. Additional highlights include serving as the English department head at a middle school, where he also served as the vice president of the education association, his work as a professional singer and maintaining relationships with four of his students after they graduated. Looking toward the future, Mr. Hartshorn intends to teach young people at his church.
