Leveraging more than a decade of excellence in healthcare, Ms. Newman has earned distinction as a registered nurse with the Allegheny Health Network in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In this capacity, she focuses her efforts on providing nursing care to rehabilitate patients with severe brain injuries and rehabilitate patients, restoring them as close as possible to their previous baseline performance through the facility's brain injury and rehabilitation program. She ensures that patients are safe and that they receive adequate personal and medical care, conducting hospital-wide audits and working on performance improvement projects as well. As part of this, she wrote a healthcare policy pertaining to doors for the brain injury program.
Prior to her current role, Ms. Newman began her career working for a federally-funded pediatrician's office in a low-income neighborhood. She then worked with Concordia and in orthopedic surgery at a hospital for a year until serving as a travel nurse for three years. Prior to embarking on her professional journey, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Science in Nursing, both from Chamberlain University.
Within the coming years, Ms. Newman intends to continue moving forward in her career, with the goal of attaining a Doctor of Nursing Practice. She credits much of her success to her dedication to learning continually in the rapidly evolving field of medicine. Additionally, she strives to serve as a true advocate in healthcare, including writing letters to governors and mayors to help drive improvements in healthcare policy.
