Karen Elizabeth McClendon Honored by Marquis Who's Who for Achievements in Genealogy

    DALLAS, TX, January 27, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Karen Elizabeth McClendon has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Ms. McClendon is a genealogist and historian who has served as the President General of several lineage societies, including the Guild of St. Margaret of Scotland in 2013-2015. Concurrently since 1994, she has also held virtually every office among various Lineage Societies. She brings impressive academic credentials to these appointments, including a bachelor's degree and a Master of Education earned at West Texas A&M University. Notably, Ms. McClendon also dedicated many years to being an educator, retiring from Newman Smith High School in Carrollton, Texas, in 2001 after entering the field in 1975 as an art and English teacher.

For example, she is a member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels, the Hereditary Order of the Families of Presidents and First Ladies, and the National Gavel Society. She is also the founding genealogist for the Sons and Daughters of Virginia Founding Fathers, the Order of the Norman Conquest, and the Order of Medieval Women: Women of Consequence. Ms. McClendon is also a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy.

Ms. McClendon is also a founding member of the American Descendants of the House of Burgesses 1619–1699 and participates in the National Society of Colonial Daughters of the Seventeenth Century and the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, of which she is also an honorary chapter regent. In 2009, she was elected as the President General of the Guild of Colonial Artisans and Tradesmen 1607–1783; in fact, Ms. McClendon counts being a founding officer of several lineage societies as a notable career achievement. In 2010, she was elected to a two-year term as the President General of the Colonial and Antebellum Bench and Bar.

Numerous commendations have marked Ms. McClendon's professional and creative successes, including the Outstanding Service Award from the Order of Charlemagne in 2019. She was also awarded the SAR Medal of Appreciation from the National Society Sons of the American Revolution. Moreover, Ms. McClendon proudly published a book for the Order of the Americans of Armorial Ancestry, another society for which she served as President General. She has contributed numerous other books, newsletters, and articles related to her specialty.
