Mr. Paiz is an immigrant who achieved the American dream and was also blessed with a miracle transplant.
HIS STORY:
Mr. Paiz served honorably in the United States Navy and then completed college coursework at the College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita, CA in 1991. He notes that he was driven to join the real estate industry after his experience purchasing his first home. The agent with whom he worked shared properties that did not meet his expectations and the experience left him disappointed and wanting. Thus, beginning in 1998, he has served as a realtor with several agencies including Sunshine Realty & Associates, Keller Williams Realty, Inc., and Pacesetters Realty. In recognition of his excellent work, he was named a Top 20% Realtor in Antelope Valley. An expert negotiator; he works with sellers and buyers to provide premier service to ensure that they either realize the most from sales, or receive the best value. Also a naturally sociable and outgoing person, Mr. Paiz aims to conduct himself with professionalism and act as a trustworthy resource on whom clients can count.
Mr. Paiz's suffered from immune system issues, which led to rheumatoid arthritis without him realizing it. From there, he developed pulmonary fibrosis, but his doctor told him not to worry about it until he was 65 to 70 years old. However, in 2020, he began feeling that he tired easily. He also started sounding as if he had just run a marathon whenever he spoke on the phone. He started needing oxygen and was very concerned during the Covid-19 pandemic. In November of 2020, he received a call from his pulmonary doctor telling him that his health was getting worse and there was nothing they could do for him any longer. His doctor told him to say his goodbyes to as many people as he could and spend all the time he could with his wife and children. Mr. Paiz did not give up easily; he had unshakeable faith. He called his regular doctor and explained everything. His doctor gave him the same opinion and told him that the only thing that could save him was a miracle. He would need to put him on a list for a transplant, but it takes a long time. From there, Mr. Paiz would need to wait for a donor to come in, which takes even more time. His condition was a struggle, so he had to fight through it with his wife of over 10 years. He went to UCLA and USC, which both denied him because of his insurance. He was accepted at Cedars-Sinai and visited the hospital between 12 and 14 times. They were able to complete a four-week test within 3½ days. When Mr. Paiz passed all the tests, they approved him for the transplant. His his faith, the prayers from family and friends, his church, and his home countries of Guatemala and Mexico are what saved him and gave him the grace to have a second chance at life; he received the miracle the doctors said he would not get.
