Cathy A. Price Celebrated for Dedication to the Field of Human Resources

Ms. Cathy Price channels years of expertise into her work with Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington

She takes the most pride in being a co-author of the first human resources reference book for professionals in government contracting.

BOWIE, MD, January 31, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Cathy A. Price has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all considered during the selection process.

As long as she can remember, Cathy has always been one to go her own way.

Cathy was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to James and Hersey Price. She has an older sibling, Pamela Price, who is a pharmacist at a major medical center in San Antonio, Texas. Cathy has always been a pioneer blazing her own trail. After the Brown versus Board Education ruling, the Louisiana School Board system set out to desegregate schools in the Baton Rouge area. She was bused to the nation's pioneering magnet program for high-achieving middle school pupils. She then attended and graduated from the highly renowned Scotlandville Magnet High School and Engineering Honors programs.

The path to Ms. Price's current human resource position as Director of HR Shared Services for Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington DC was a 25-year journey, starting with her very first HR job at Hoffman-LaRoche, a pharmaceutical company, as an HR Associate. Over the years, she has worked management and leadership positions such as VP Human Resources for Points of Light Foundation. In addition, she has been an adjunct instructor for Northern Virginia Community College, director of human resources for Inc. 500 companies such as DavisTrapp and FederalConference.com, and as a re-employment specialist and human resources counselor for the Virginia Employment Commission.

Ms. Price's biggest impact has been the creation and founding of the Pee Dee Regional African American Chamber of Commerce at the age of 27. The idea was born out of a need for minority and small business owners to access practical information about economic and business development to help their business grow. Ms. Price created a diverse community of mom-and-pop to small business owners who were very interested in what the chamber offered. Ms. Price was highlighted in the August 1998 issue of the Florence & Greater Pee Dee Business Journal magazine.

This journey has culminated in the formation of her HR consulting business, HRGovCon.com. The firm serves small to mid-size businesses who participate in the government contracting space with HR services and consulting. HRGovCon builds HR infrastructure and systems to support companies entering the "employer" stage of their business.

In conjunction with her work, she dedicates herself to The Shepherd's House International Christian Church, where she has served as a member, deacon and ministry lead for their career development and business ministry since 2017. Ms. Price is dedicated to keeping up with the latest developments in her area. Therefore, she belongs to the National Career Development Association, Coach Training Alliance Alumni, the Society for Human Resource Management, and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority.

An expert in the field of human resources and government contracting, Ms. Price holds a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Southern University and Agricultural and Mechanical College at Baton Rouge and a minor in Architectural Engineering. Over the years, she has expanded upon her expertise by becoming a career development facilitator through the National Career Development Association, a certified professional leadership coach, and a CTA certified coach. Due to her outstanding breadth of knowledge, Ms. Price has contributed to such publications as the "Human Resource Professionals in Government Contracting Guidebook" and "Employment Suitability, Public Trust, and Security Clearances" and HR related articles on the LinkedIn platform.

In light of her professional achievements, Ms. Price was honored as Employee of the Quarter in 2011 and 2012, and Manager of the Quarter in 2012. Though her career has been filled with standout moments, she takes the most pride in being a co-author of the first human resources reference book for professionals in government contracting. The cornerstone of her success lay in her passion, perseverance, and her parents' influence, as they were both pioneers in the field. Within the next five years, Ms. Price aims to take on an educational role so that she can pass down her knowledge to up-and-comers in the field.
