Mr. Edwards is a tenured entrepreneur in the hospitality industry who has been overseeing his successful business in the U.S. Virgin Islands for more than 35 years. As the owner and operator of Hollywood Taxi & Tour since 1985, he collaborates with cruise ships as a local tour guide. Greeting tourists as they exit the boat, Mr. Edwards takes them to various popular destinations such as the botanical garden, the Captain Morgan Visitor Center, and other areas of interest, entertaining guests and giving them an in-depth history of the area.
Looking toward the future, Mr. Edwards plans to eventually decrease his workload and retire from the business so that he can spend more time with his children and extended family. Reflecting on his tenure in the industry, Mr. Edwards attributes his success to his pleasant and friendly personality.
Among his most memorable moments in the industry, Mr. Edwards had the pleasure of escorting the current president during his visit to the island of Saint Croix when he was a senator. A true honor to have been able to provide his services to him, it is a memory that he will forever cherish.
Aside from his entrepreneurial experience, Mr. Edwards served more than 25 years in the U.S. National Guard as a generator maintenance/production specialist. Shortly before retiring in 2006, he had to undergo spinal surgery for an injury, which affected some of the nerves on the right side of his hands and legs and impaired his physical mobility. Fortunately, Mr. Edwards was able to overcome these obstacles and continue his career. Following in his footsteps, Mr. Edwards' eldest daughter also notably served in the military in the U.S. Air Force and is now retired as well.
To remain aware of developments affecting his field, Mr. Edwards is a prominent member of the Federation of Saint Croix Taxi Association Inc. where he also operated as the vice chair from 2016 to 2020. Mr. Edwards is also a member of the Airport Taxi Association where he served as the secretary between 1990 and 1992.
