Tobin S. Bechtel Recognized by Marquis Who's Who

    RENO, NV, February 03, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Tobin S. Bechtel has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Drawing on over three decades of expertise in the field of academia, Mr. Bechtel specializes in independent and international school leadership. Since 2018, he has found much success as the head of the Sage Ridge School in Reno, Nevada. In this capacity, he is responsible for enrollment and expansions, overseeing building projects, budgeting, staff management, board relations and operations of the 42-acre campus. Prior to this role, he was active as the head of the International School of Central Switzerland from 2014 to 2018. During this time, Mr. Bechtel also served as a faculty member at the Harvard University Graduate School of Education between 1998 and 2017.

Mr. Bechtel initially began his career with positions at the United States Trade Representative and the International Monetary Fund before becoming assistant director of Women in Government Relations Inc. Following a decision to move into the education field, he was involved with the education staffing team at the International Schools Services from 1993 until 1995. Between 1995 and 2002, he garnered expertise as a teacher at The International School of Amsterdam. Mr. Bechtel was then active as a curriculum development coordinator for the Atlanta International School from 2002 to 2009, followed by a position as a deputy director for the International School of Berne in Switzerland from 2009 until 2014.

Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Mr. Bechtel pursued an education at the American University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in history and English literature. He continued his academic efforts at The College of New Jersey, earning a Master of Arts in teaching in 1994. Mr. Bechtel then completed Doctor of Philosophy coursework in medieval and renaissance studies at the University of Toronto, as well as Doctor of Education coursework in international and comparative education at the University of Bath.

As a commitment to his field, Mr. Bechtel has been certified in international school headship by the Academy for International School Heads and as a principal international school leader via the Principals' Training Center at The College of New Jersey. He has also been licensed as an elementary school, English, and social studies teacher by the State of New Jersey Department of Education in 1996. Moreover, Mr. Bechtel has been active with several industry-related organizations, including the Academy of International School Heads, the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, Challenge Success, the National Association of Independent Schools, Harvard Project Zero, Northwest Association of Independent Schools, the National Council for the Social Studies, the American Historical Association, the Medieval Academy of America, the Phi Delta Kappa International Association and the Phi Alpha Theta American Honor Society.

Likewise dedicated to civic advocacy, Mr. Bechtel contributes to The International Baccalaureate, Habitat for Humanity International, the New European Speech, Debate and Acting Association, and the Center for the Advancement and Study of International Education.
