Christine E. Pawelski, EdD, has been Inducted into the Prestigious Marquis Who's Who Biographical Registry

Dr. Pawelski is recognized for her expertise as an Educator and Program Developer

NEW YORK, NY, February 13, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Christine E. Pawelski, EdD, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Prior to embarking on her professional journey, Dr. Pawelski earned a Bachelor of Arts in music therapy from Alverno College, WI in 1972. She then attained a Master of Arts in counseling in 1976 and a Doctor of Education in special education research in 1985, both from the Teachers College of Columbia University, NY.

Leveraging more than three decades of excellence in special education, research and advocacy Dr. Pawelski has earned distinction as a program developer in her multiple roles as educator, researcher, collaborator within university, and community based national and international venues. Since 1972 she has directed, coordinated and developed diverse programs across multiple states (CT, OH, NY, WI, IL) and non-profit organizations (e.g. American Foundation for the Blind, Lexington School for the Deaf, Cleveland Music School Settlement, etc.) initially with a focus on disabilities and enhanced program development. In 1996 she became the Associate Director Educational Research for the National Center for Disability Services (aka Abilities!), Albertson, NY. Here she was responsible for educational reform projects and teacher training working with staff servicing severely physically handicapped individuals (preK through 12th grade). She was appointed Director of the newly built Smeal Learning Center which opened the door to providing distance learning in these critical areas. By 2000 the Center established the Global Institute, securing grants and university collaborators (i.e. Teachers College, Columbia University's Center for Opportunities and Outcomes for Persons with Disabilities, Brooklyn College, CUNY and others) to enhance quality services for the most vulnerable of individuals.

In the late 1980s educational focus nationally began to document the abuse of children in families and communities along with development of strategies in prevention and treatment. Dr. Pawelski joined in this effort as an Associate, Training and Technical Assistance at the National Committee to Prevent Child Abuse (aka PCA) in 1987 bringing her expertise in disabilities to this work. Various national and international consultant roles followed for diverse groups (e.g. Faculty Member (1988-1997), U.S. Army Family Advanced Training courses on child sexual abuse prevention for their family advocacy staff, medical personnel, psychologist and investigative units based in Ft. Sam Houston, TX and internationally at US bases). The research and training in the areas of child and adult abuse continues to be incorporated into the ongoing priority work for Dr. Pawelski.

Besides the ongoing support of primary career efforts, Dr. Pawelski is committed to the development of effective multi-media and accessible materials and training formats that can transmit knowledge and resources on critical social issues (e.g. abuse, bullying, advocacy). Inclusion of more vulnerable populations (i.e. persons with disabilities, elderly) especially in urban areas is critically needed and will be priorities in coming years. Dr. Pawelski continues to develop models of diverse networking and collaboration utilizing all forms of digital and visual media with these areas in mind.
