Mrs. Johnson initially began her career working as a home health care aide in Mitchell County for 16 years, as well as raising her 4 children along with her husband Mark. Her drive to pursue her vocational path in the food industry derived from her mother, who served as the owner of a bar and restaurant business. Additionally, Mrs. Johnson and her husband Mark, who she co-owns the diner with, are both Norwegian and aspire to share their heritage with their customers through their diner.
As a commitment to her field, Mrs. Johnson has been active with several industry-related organizations, including the Osage Chamber of Commerce and the Iowa Restaurant Association. Likewise dedicated to civic advocacy, she provides food for veterans on Veteran's Day and is involved in various charities within her local community. Well regarded for her contributions to the field, her diner has been recognized as the Best Atmosphere in Osage in 2021, and as the Best Cafe in Osage in 2022 by the Restaurant Guru. BecMar Diner was also featured in Our Iowa Magazine as a Favorite Ma & Pa Restaurant in the November 2021 issue. Looking toward the future, Mrs. Johnson aspires to maintain the superlative quality and cuisine of the diner and hopes to hire more personnel to help her manage the business.
