Leveraging more than two decades of excellence in education administration, Dr. Jones has earned distinction as the dean of students and assistant vice president with the University of Alabama. Since 2013, she has focused her efforts on revitalizing programs and services, developing improvements to ensure students have the resources they need to succeed. Prior to her current role, she began her career as the associate dean of students for the University of Alabama in 2013 and served as the interim dean of students from 2020 to 2022. She also served as a programming chair and then national vice president of the National Pan-Hellenic Council, Inc.
Prior to embarking on her professional journey, Dr. Jones earned a bachelor's degree in advertising with a minor in graphic design from the University of Alabama in 1988. She then attained a master's degree from the same institution in 2000 as well as a Doctor of Education in higher education administration in 2007. Additionally, she is a valued member of the leadership council for the National Student Exchange and of the Southern Association for College Student Affairs.
Among her professional accomplishments, Dr. Jones is proud to have received a Capstone Hero Award and a Dedication of Service Award. She was honored with an Outstanding Professional Award by the University of Alabama Professional Staff Assembly as well as a Dr. Minnie C. Miles Endowed Excellence Award. She then was named the Laura Taddeucci Downs NSCS National Advisor of the Year by the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. Additionally, she is a dedicated member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. for 35 years. She serves the sorority on local, state, and regional levels.
Within the coming years, Dr. Jones intends to continue making a positive difference for the students in the university, paying back the resources she had available while pursuing her own education. Also dedicated to civil advocacy, she works with March of Dimes to ensure babies are born and healthy and are able to survive.
