He has focused his efforts on preventative cardiology, working with patients who are high-risk or at-risk for cardiovascular disease. He has also contributed multiple peer reviewed publications to professional journals in cardiology as well as international cardiology conferences, including "Neutrophil to Lymphocyte Ratio at the Time of LVAD Implant Predicts 30-day Readmission" which was presented at the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplant conference in Nice, France in 2018 and "Outcomes of Coronary Artery Revascularization Procedures in Patients with Antiphospholipid Syndrome" for Cardiovascular Revascularization Medicine in 2019, among other works.
Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Dr. Ahmed earned a Bachelor of Science in biomedical science with a minor in psychology from the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. He then attained a Doctor of Medicine from the State University of New York Downstate Health Sciences University in 2016. He underwent a residency in internal medicine at the Montefiore Medical Center of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 2019 and completed a fellowship in cardiology at Stony Brook University Hospital. Well-qualified in his field, he is board-certified in cardiovascular disease and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine, echocardiography by the American Society of Echocardiography, nuclear cardiology by the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology and vascular imaging by the Alliance for Physician Certification & Advancement.
Among his professional accomplishments, Dr. Ahmed was honored as a Medical Educator Pathway Graduate by the State University of New York Downstate Health Sciences University in 2016. He was also appointed an Outstanding Graduate Resident in Ambulatory Medicine by the Montefiore Medical Center of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 2019. Additionally, he was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society by his peers for his stellar work in 2015.
