Prior to founding Canyon in 2005, he was the Managing Director and Global Head of Lodging at Banc of America Securities, where, along with a team of accomplished investment bankers on the hospitality platform, he participated in more than $7 billion in mergers and acquisitions, equity, and debt transactions. He also served as the CEO at Bent Severin Associates and as the Chief Operating Officer at Feiler Brothers International, responsible for developing, constructing, and renovating many well-known hotels throughout the U.S. Looking toward the future, Mr. Vazifdar plans to continue impacting the industry by creating highly experiential resorts and lodges in unique destinations.
Mr. Vazifdar's passion for hospitality led him to speak publicly worldwide at lodging and tourism conferences. He also volunteers by supporting various causes, including Lifehouse in Northern California and Room to Read in San Francisco.
In preparation for his career, Mr. Vazifdar attended Loyola University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Economics in 1971 and thereafter got his MBA at Berkeley, California in 1975.
As a testament to his success, Mr. Vazifdar has been quoted and featured in numerous professional industry publications, including HOTELS magazine and the Utah Business magazine.
