POTSDAM, NY, February 27, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Elizabeth St. Pierre has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

At just 16 years old, Ms. St. Pierre was driven to pursue a career in science but wasn't sure of which field yet. She was considering studying to be a veterinarian like many young animal lovers and even though she didn't know what a medical laboratory technologist (MLT) was, she was intrigued. She applied to both Cornell for veterinary science, to which she was accepted, and to the State University of New York at Canton for medical technology. Despite her acceptance to the Ivy League institute, she chose to enroll at SUNY Canton where she graduated as a medical laboratory technician in 1997 and was certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) in the same year. Over time, Ms. St. Pierre expanded her professional knowledge through the State University of Empire State, and has earned a Medical Laboratory Technologist certification from New York State.

Upon graduation in the late 1990's, Ms. St. Pierre began working as a phlebotomist at Massena Memorial Hospital and then moved on to Saratoga Springs Hospital as a medical laboratory technician (M.L.T.) until 2000. She then returned to Upstate New York to work first at Claxton Hepburn Hospital followed by Canton Potsdam Hospital in Potsdam, NY where she works today as a Medical Technologist (MT). Throughout her career, she has performed tasks in the areas of phlebotomy, hematology, chemistry, serology, microbiology, and blood-banking in hospital settings. Since 2007, Ms. St. Pierre has also performed duties as the Point of Care Coordinator for Canton Potsdam Hospital, working with doctors and nurses at area clinics to train them as well as at the bedside in the field of point of care testing.

Driven by the desire to stay current in her field, Ms. St. Pierre aligns herself with the American Society for Clinical Pathology and the College of American Pathology (CAP). In addition to her work, she donates to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and to her local animal shelter. In her field of work, through her dedication and outstanding body of work, she has been honored several times, by Canton Potsdam Administration, New York State Department of Health inspectors and CAP inspectors. All accreditations have earned the respect of her fellow employees and recognition in her field. Within the next five to ten years, Ms. St. Pierre plans to focus more on her role as the Point of Care Coordinator for Canton Potsdam Hospital to help provide continuing excellent care to patients.
