Linda H. Coles, EdD, has been Inducted into the Prestigious Marquis Who's Who Biographical Registry

Linda H. Coles is recognized for her expertise as an adjunct professor with Concordia University Chicago



She sees educating, mentoring and helping others grow as her purpose, and engaging in her passion has brought her a great deal of joy in her life.

    CHICAGO, IL, March 01, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Linda H. Coles, EdD, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Leveraging more than four decades of excellence in educational leadership and facilitating the development of other education professionals, Dr. Coles has earned distinction as an adjunct professor for Concordia University Chicago. Since 2020, she has focused her efforts on working with interns who are training to become principals through the school's Principal Preparation Program and gaining certification from the state. Additionally, she has been an independent consultant for Concordia University Chicago since 2020 and is a valued member of the Chicago Principals and Administrators Association, and the Illinois Principals Association.

Prior to her current role, Dr. Coles began her career as a teacher for kindergarten through third grade students and then was a principal for Chicago Public Schools. She was the assistant principal for Poe Classical School until 1990 and became the principal for the Keller Regional Gifted Center in 1996. In 2002, she became principal of Dr. Martin Luther King College Prep High School until retiring from the role in 2006. She was a consultant for Strategic Learning Initiatives from 2011 to 2017. Following this time, she was a consultant for Discovery Education in 2015 and began Principal Coaching with Chicago Public Schools for four years. After serving as a mentor and coach for Loyola University doctoral students, she became an administrator-in-charge for Chicago Public Schools. Also dedicated to civil advocacy, she lent her expertise as the president of the Women's Board of the DuSable Black History Museum and Education Center from 2015 until 2019.

Among her professional accomplishments, Dr. Coles is proud to have been named Educator of the Year by the Phi Delta Kappa of Chicago State University in 2000 and received an Outstanding Leadership Award from the Chicago Principals and Administrators Association in 2001. She was also honored with a Community Leadership Award from the Chicago Teachers Union Quest Center in 2002 and was named one of the Most Distinguished Women of Illinois by the Orrington Institute in 2019.

Prior to embarking on her professional journey, Dr. Coles earned a bachelor's degree in kindergarten primary education from Chicago State University (formerly Chicago Teachers College). She then attained a Master of Arts in supervision and administration from Roosevelt University in 1989 and gained a Doctor of Education in educational leadership from Nova Southeastern University in 2001.

Dr. Coles is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., the oldest black sorority founded in 1908 on the campus of Howard University. She enjoys h r membership with the sorority as they continue the work of being of service to all mankind.

Within the coming years, Dr. Coles intends to continue her work as an educator, helping the interns at Concordia University to become effective principals. She sees educating, mentoring and helping others grow as her purpose, and engaging in her passion has brought her a great deal of joy in her life.
