Drawing on more than 15 years of experience in the real estate industry, Mr. Cangelosi is distinguished for his expertise as senior vice president of development at The Michaels Organization, the largest owner of affordable housing in the country. Utilizing his expertise in land acquisition, community engagement and entitlement, Mr. Cangelosi oversees the company's East Coast development pipeline, managing its Caribbean, Mid-Atlantic, Northeast and Southwest offices. While his role as senior vice president of development is new as of 2022, he has served the company since 2015 as development officer and vice president of development. Prior to joining The Michaels Organization, Mr. Cangelosi was project director for Conifer Realty and senior project coordinator for the Camden County Improvement Authority.
One of the driving forces that led Mr. Cangelosi to join The Michaels Organization was his late father, who also worked in affordable housing. As a child, Mr. Cangelosi was exposed to the various communities that his father worked developed and saw the positive influence he had on people's lives, which, in turn, fueled his own desire to enter the field. Additionally, the topics of public policy and real estate development had always fascinated him. Mr. Cangelosi's passion for his livelihood has resulted in notable career accolades, including a Community Partner of the Year Award from Rutgers University Camden, a 20 Under 40 Award and Next Generation Leaders Award from New Jersey Business, a New Jersey Real Estate Influencers Award and a Multi-Housing Publication Star.
Before embarking on his professional journey, Mr. Cangelosi earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Georgetown University in 2007 and completed coursework toward a Master of Business Administration in finance at Rutgers University. He serves as board chair of the New Life Community Development Corporation and Camden City Business Improvement District, sits on the Rutgers- Camden School of Nursing's Leadership Advisory Board, and is licensed as a real estate associate in New Jersey.
Outside of work, Mr. Cangelosi enjoys spending time with his wife, a registered nurse, and their two children, ages 8 and 6, as well as traveling, reading fiction books and listening to podcasts.
