Leveraging more than a decade of excellence in biomedical science, Dr. Ohmine has earned distinction as the Global Head of Technical Sales for Wuxi Advanced Therapies. He will be focusing his efforts on coaching the company's commercial teams on scientifically communicating with potential sponsors and clients while looking out for any next generation therapies in the pipeline. Additionally, he has been a biotech and biodevice consultant with JSO TransPacific, LLC since 2003 and is a valued member of the American Society of Cell and Gene Therapy.
Prior to his current role, Dr. Ohmine began his career as a postdoctoral research fellow for the Mayo Clinic. He then was a technical marketing manager for DiscoveRx Corporation in 2013 and was promoted to a Business Manager the same year. He continued his career with DiscoveRx, eventually serving as the Director of Asia Pacific Commercial Operations in 2015. In 2017, he became the Senior Director of Asia Pacific Business Development for Eurofins Pharma Discovery Services and took a role as the Head of Asia Pacific Marketing and Business Development in 2018. He subsequently served as the Vice President of Asia Pacific Commercial and Global Distribution in 2019 and maintains a track record driving towards supporting the development of professionals looking to make a positive impact on improving the state of human health.
Over the course of his career, Dr. Ohmine has contributed a wealth of research to biomedical sciences, including as a co-author for "The behavioral and clinical effects of therapeutic lifestyle change on middle-aged adults" in the journal Preventing Chronic Disease in 2006 and "Rhesus monkey TRIM5alpha restricts HIV-1 production through rapid degradation of viral Gag polyproteins" for the high-impact journal, Nature Medicine, in 2007. Between 2005 and 2018, Dr. Ohmine has published in over 25 peer-reviewed journals, and most recently, he was the lead author on "Aurora-A overexpression is linked to development of aggressive teratomas derived from human iPS cells" for the journal Oncology Reports in 2018.
Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Dr. Ohmine earned a Master of Science in molecular biology from Brigham Young University in 2005. He then attained a Doctor of Philosophy in Biomedical Sciences – Virology and Gene Therapy from the Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences in 2010. Among his professional accomplishments, he is proud to have recognized as the first Harold W. Sieben's Ph.D. Training Fellowship award recipient. He continued his recognition in the biotech/pharmaceutical commercial industry as he was also named Sales Manager of the Year by DiscoveRx and Regional Director of the Year by Eurofins Discovery.
