Leveraging more than three decades of excellence in test and evaluation, Mr. Williamson has earned distinction as the director of test and activation, test engineering, marine ops, preventative maintenance, care and protection, and calibrations, for Austal USA. Since 2013, he has focused his efforts on overseeing the testing and trials for EPF and LCS contracts as well as managing departmental budgets and expenses. He is responsible for delivering contract deliverables for all test procedures and reports within the test and trials division, which involves the trials captain, mates and chief engineers for sea trials and ship movement plans. He also leads the oversight, management and scheduling for the preventative maintenance division and the company's "Lock out Tag out" program for facilities and vessels throughout all programs conducted by the company.
Prior to his current role, Mr. Williamson began his career as an electrical apprentice for Ingalls Shipbuilding in 1984 and was promoted to a test engineer in 1997. He then served as a test engineering manager for Northrop Grumman of Ingalls Shipbuilding in 2003 for 10 years. Also a dedicated civil advocate, he regularly goes on medical mission trips to East Africa as a camp leader. Among his professional accomplishments, he is proud to have received numerous Outstanding Achievement Awards as well as Engineering Excellence Awards from Ingalls Shipbuilding.
Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Mr. Williamson completed an Ingalls shipbuilding apprenticeship program at Gulf Coast Community College in 1988. He then attained an associate's degree in electrical and electronics from Faulkner State Junior College in 2004.
Within the coming years, Mr. Williamson intends to lead his department to run as efficiently as possible and to mentor the future generations for continued growth and success. He is dedicated to the field of test and trials and is well-versed in communication and customer relationships, making him eminently qualified for multi-departmental leadership within the field.
