WEEMS, VA, March 10, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Lee N. Koehler, Esq., with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Koehler celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Following graduation from Gettysburg College with a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy in 1961 and active duty in the U.S. Army, Maryland National Guard, with an honorable discharge in December 1962, Mr. Koehler graduated from the Francis King Carey School of Law at the University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Laws in 1965. He subsequently spent the next three years as a federal estate tax examiner with the Internal Revenue Service. Adding to his expertise, Mr. Koehler enrolled in the graduate program at George Washington University while working on a full-time basis, achieving a Master of Laws in taxation in 1968.

Mr. Koehler's career continually progressed. After working as an associate for a member of the Maryland Bar Association, he established his successful practice in Towson, Maryland, specializing in business acquisition, private placement finance, estate planning, and family-owned businesses until July 2014 when he decided to retire from the field. Relocating to Virginia, Mr. Koehler settled in the small town of Weems overlooking the Corrotoman River, where he found more time to dedicate to his favorite pastime – oil painting.

In addition to his practice, Mr. Koehler was a 29% owner of The Reefs Beach Club in Bermuda and a 50% owner of the Nisbet Plantation Beach Club in St. Kitts-Nevis in the British West Indies. Though both ventures ended in a dispute with his partner, the resulting litigation produced his most significant contribution to American jurisprudence. As the plaintiff and co-counsel, together with Paul F. Newhouse of the Maryland Bar, Mr. Koehler was instrumental in obtaining the precedent-setting New York Court of Appeals decision in Koehler v. Bank of Bermuda, 12 N.Y.3d 533, 911 N.E. 2d 825 in 2009. According to several commentators, the decision, which became known for its application of New York's garnishment procedures as the "Koehler Remedy," revolutionized the law of judgment collections in New York.

In accounting for his prosperity, Mr. Koehler credits his deeply entrenched sense of creativity, which has led him to innovate in ways that contributed directly to his success.
