He also garnered significant acclaim for his work in preventing illegal drugs from crossing the U.S. border. His undercover work in Miami in the mid-1980s involved transporting hundreds of kilograms of cocaine from Colombia into the United States, under the watchful eye of the DEA, and mingling with drug distributors in Miami to make arrests. Mr. Guarino's work was crucial in deterring drug trafficking and keeping the public safe.

Years later, in 2018, Mr. Guarino's skills in law enforcement led him to join The MPM Group, a comprehensive, state-of-the-art executive-level consulting firm, which specializes in litigation support.
