Having always been intrigued by numbers, math, and how things work around him, Mr. Alvarez earned an Associate of Science in Engineering from Farmingdale State College in 1993. He then attained a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Binghamton University in 1997 and a Master of Science in the same field from Virginia Tech in 1998.
Mr. Alvarez began his career as a mechanical engineer with GE Global Research in 1999 supporting research in multiple technologies and fields, including diesel combustion. In 2004, he moved to Atlanta where he led as a Six Sigma Black Belt with GE Power focused on New Product Introduction for the Energy Services segment. He continued working with GE Power, earning multiple promotions within the company including being named Field Resource leader for Americas and Tooling operations teams, then subsequently becoming field services global cost leader in 2016. Following this time, he served as the North America productivity director for FieldCore in 2018 and was promoted to Senior Field Operations director for the Americas in 2020.
Mr. Alvarez throughout his career has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership, planning, and strategy skills. During his professional tenure, he has successfully led teams of engineers and technicians in the delivery of complex projects on time and within budget. Mr. Alvarez has a proven track record of implementing effective project management methodologies, including six sigma and lean principles, to drive efficiency and productivity across different types of business operations.

Over the course of his career, Mr. Alvarez has achieved multiple patents on his work, starting with a "Turbo-charged Engine Combustion Chamber Pressure Protection Apparatus and Method" in 2001. He then patented his "Methods and Apparatus for Controlling Peak Firing Pressure for a Turbo-Charged Diesel Engine" in 2003 and his "Method and System for Emission Control of a Compression Ignition Locomotive Engine" in 2012. Among his professional accomplishments, he is proud to have been involved with affinity groups within General Electric, in particular with the Hispanic Forum where he served in several different leadership roles including being named president of the Atlanta chapter.
