WILMINGTON, NC, March 23, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Jonathan Gordon has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Now retired, Mr. Gordon was the Chief Pilot for the Southeastern North Carolina Airborne Law Enforcement (SABLE) Aviation Unit for the City of Wilmington, North Carolina, from 2014 to 2022. While leading the Unit, he was responsible for managing the department, overseeing all aircraft comprised of retired U.S. Army Bell OH-58C Kiowa helicopters, and personnel. Mr. Gordon also performed helicopter maintenance, provided personnel training and selection, and managed various administrative duties.
In 2022, Mr. Gordon was honored with a Lifesaving Award for his bravery. He was also a two-time recipient of a Medal of Valor by the Wilmington Police Department during his career from 1997-2002.
"I owe all my professional success to my superiors for mentoring me and recognizing potential in me," Gordon said. "However, my drive and morale come from having spectacular role models as parents and a continuous support system in my wife, Andrea."
Noting the success of SABLE and the efforts of Mr. Gordon, the Wilmington Police Department was chosen from hundreds of other police agencies nationwide to appear on the first episode of the national television series, "How America Works with Mike Rowe," highlighting law enforcement and its agency, in 2022. The Department was also featured in Air Beat Magazine that same year.

Mr. Gordon holds a bachelor's degree in management and organizational development with a minor in leadership from the University of Mount Olive since 2007. He also has credentials as a licensed Commercial Pilot and Airframe/Powerplant Aviation Mechanic.
