Jose G. Jimenez Recognized for Dedication to the Field of Architecture

Mr. Jimenez found success as an architect for more than three decades.

He taught the subject at Washington University in St. Louis, MO, California Polytechnic University in Pomona, CA and the University of Texas in San Antonio, TX.

SAN ANTONIO, TX, March 24, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Jose G. Jimenez has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

With more than four decades of experience in the field of urban design to his credit, Mr. Jimenez distinguished himself as the owner and principal architect of Jimenez Architects. In this capacity, he is responsible for the design process, drafting of construction documents and oversight of architectural projects, and bears a wealth of expertise in the design and construction of medical facilities, schools, public housing and private homes. Hailing from a truly international background, Mr. Jimenez previously held a practice in California, served in Massachusetts, worked with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization for eight years in France, and helped plan the design of a city in Saudi Arabia with CH2M, a former American engineering company.

Outside of his endeavors in architectural practice, Mr. Jimenez taught the subject on behalf of students as a professor at Washington University in St. Louis, MO, California Polytechnic University in Pomona, CA and the University of Texas in San Antonio, TX, between 1992 and 2012, whereupon he retired. He is also a current member of the Bexar County Historical Commission and a former member of the American Institute of Architecture.

Mr. Jimenez's proficiency in the field is largely born of his academic journey, during which time he received a master's degree in architecture and urban design at Washington University in 1976. He also received a scholarship to study for two years in Greece, during which time he benefited richly from the tutelage of Constantino Doxiadis, a world-famous city planner and became an aficionado of local architecture.

Among his career accomplishments, Mr. Jimenez is most proud to have participated in a great deal of restoration work for many historic structures throughout the United States – especially in San Antonio. He considers his most profound legacy to be their preservation. He is also gratified to have been given the opportunity to write articles via Oxford Press on the subject of Hispanic American architecture in the United States.

In accounting for his success, Mr. Jimenez credits his challenging adolescence and background hailing from a minority community. Raised by his grandparents, he entered the workforce as a paperboy at the age of 14 and became determined to excel in higher education, distinguishing himself as the first in his family to graduate from college. Now in his 80s, Mr. Jimenez hopes to continue cultivating his interest in watercolor painting, having held a passion for the medium since his childhood.
