Donald B. Peck has been Inducted into the Prestigious Marquis Who's Who Biographical Registry

Donald B. Peck is recognized for his dedicated career as a science educator with the Center for Elementary Science of Fairleigh Dickinson University



His specialties lay in chemistry, geology and mineralogy, and he greatly enjoyed sharing his passion for the sciences with his students.

    GENEVA, IL, March 24, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Donald B. Peck has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Leveraging more than four decades of excellence as a science educator, Mr. Peck has earned distinction as the director for the Center for Elementary Science of Fairleigh Dickinson University. From 1987 until his retirement in 1996, he focused his efforts on developing the curriculum and instruction program for the Center, mentoring rising education professionals as well.

Over the course of his career, Mr. Peck also lent his expertise as a co-author for numerous science textbooks, publishing his works with Holt Rinehart and Winston, Silver Burdett Ginn and Houghton Mifflin. He is also the author of "Mineral Identification: A Practical Guide for the Amateur Mineralogist," which was published by the Mineralogical Record in 2007 and 2016. Among his professional accomplishments, he is proud to have received a trip to the Argonne National Laboratory to support his work. He is a life member of the National Science Teachers Association.

Mr. Peck began his career teaching chemistry and physics at Litchfield High School in Connecticut in 1953. In the 1960s, he taught chemistry and geology at the Torrington and Waterbury campuses of the University of Connecticut. He was also the Director for Science Curriculum and Instruction in the Scotch Plains – Fanwood School District in New Jersey in 1964. In 1974 he served as the science supervisor for Woodbridge Township Schools. Prior to embarking on his professional journey, he earned a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from Bates College in 1953 and attained a Master of Science in science teaching from Union College in 1960. Following this accomplishment, he studied in a Doctor of Philosophy program, sponsored by the National Science Foundation at the University of Maryland in 1971. His specialties lay in chemistry, geology and mineralogy, and he greatly enjoyed sharing his passion for the sciences with his students.
