Marquis Who's Who Selects G. James Capelli for Excellence in Secondary and College Level Education and Administration

Mr. Capelli retired in 1994 as the senior vice president at Clover Park Technical College, a community college in Lakewood, Washington.

    GOODYEAR, AZ, March 30, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- G. James Capelli has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. Capelli retired in 1994 as the senior vice president at Clover Park Technical College, a community college in Lakewood, Washington. Having spent more than 35 years with the institution, he began as a program supervisor for distribution education and was promoted numerous times. Among these roles, Mr. Capelli served as a continuing education supervisor, business operations supervisor, and assistant administrator for vocation education. He was named to his most recent position in 1986.

Before being recruited by Clover Park Technical College, Mr. Capelli was affiliated with the Seattle Intermediate School District for Vocational Education from 1971 to 1972 as a curriculum consultant. He also worked for Big Bend Community College in Moses Lake, Washington, between 1966 and 1969 as the director of extended college programs and continuing education division. Additionally, Mr. Capelli gained experience as an instructor in the department of engineering and drafting technology at Clatsop Community College in Astoria, Oregon, from 1964 to 1966 and as an instructor in the department of vocational and industrial education at Franklin Pierce School District in Tacoma, Washington, between 1958 and 1964. During his years in public school education, Mr. Capelli also coached high school football and track.

Mr. Capelli was heavily involved in program development throughout his career, which significantly helped students grow, become productive, and secure employment. He was also responsible for establishing the first industrial arts curriculum for the Franklin Pierce School District.

Civically engaged, Mr. Capelli has been very active as a parishioner of the Christ Lutheran Church since 1969, notably as its education, planning, and planning committee chairperson. He has also been involved with the Lakewood Area Chamber of Commerce as a member and past president, has chaired the Lakewood Summer Festival committee, and has volunteered with other area churches and community organizations.

Mr. Capelli graduated from Pacific Lutheran University in 1958 with a Bachelor of Education. He was also accepted to Oregon State University, through which he received a Master of Education in 1965.

As a testament to his commitment to the industry, Mr. Capelli has been aligned with several professional organizations, including the Washington Vocational Association, the American Vocational Association (now Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE), and the Washington Association of School Business Officials (WASBO). He is also a member and past president of the Washington Association of Manpower and Special Needs Personnel.

Recognizing his achievements, Mr. Capelli received an Outstanding Educator Award from the Washington State Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development in 1979 and an Outstanding Vocational Education Merit Award in 1981.
